What happens when rocker and local legend Martin Bisi trades in his mixing desk for pens and paper? Join us Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Tappeto Volante in Gowanus, Brooklyn to find out!
Artuta’s Drawing Salon Guest Artist Series is a chance to connect and create with renowned artists as they guide us through a unique drawing prompt. This month we welcome rock guitarist and producer, Martin Bisi for an evening of drawing–and hopefully some of his classic stories about Old New York, too.
In-person spots are limited so sign up quickly to reserve your space. Can’t make it in person? No problem– we’ll live stream this event so you can join from wherever you are!
This class is suitable for all experience levels. There will be time for reflection at the end. Read Martin’s bio below.
Martin Bisi (New York City, 1961) is an American guitarist, singer, composer and record producer who, with Brian Eno and Bill Laswell, founded B.C. Studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn in 1981. Known for layering the impossible, Bisi's sound heaves between cosmic chaos and structured avant no-wave. He tours the world with his punk-driven, Martin Bisi Collective and has collaborated on releases with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Fred Frith, Brian Viglione (The Dresden Dolls, Violent Femmes) and Bob D'Amico (Sebadoh). As producer, Vice Magazine puts it: "Martin Bisi Probably Produced All Your Favorite Records."
